Nice post. I would say I have to agree with Jill in that forums seem to be on the way out. People seem to prefer to use - and perhaps are more familiar with - the more "newer" forms of social mediums.

Thanks Doug.

At WebFuel, we are also doing a web analytics review of the past year - and using these insights to plan for 2010!

This is a great article and rather timely as well. As the calendar year draws to a close, it's an excellent time to perform an in-depth review.
I will forward this post and a few other ones here to some of our clients that will definitely benefit from this information.
Thanks!

Greg,

With our Google Analytics clients, we notice that most measure but never get past that first stage. Just remember that after you analyze, make sure you modify - and then test.

Now that my WordPress blog is coming up to one year, Jill's perspective on Analytics makes me think of my own metrics in some ways I would not have considered. Thanks for this!

Not being from an “SEO sphere” I found this to be quiet an eye opening post. It’s amazing how much insight about visitors’ behavior can be extracted from web analytics data. (And now I fee like a Luddite for not knowing about the demise of the meta tag . . .)
